FABULOUS DESSERTS YOU CAN ONLY FIND IN BORACAY

FABULOUS DESSERTS YOU CAN ONLY FIND IN BORACAY

I'm referring to Ube Mama and Coco Mama. Well, this is not completely true for Coco Mama but the only other location where you can find Coco Mama is in La Union. So when you're in Boracay, you should grab the opportunity to taste and enjoy these two desserts that is homegrown in Boracay. In a country like ours that exports coconut, it's ironic that coconut ice cream is not so popular so as to find it so readily in the local grocery store like in Thailand. When I was in Bangkok, I feasted on different brands of coconut ice cream from the grocery.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT UBE MAMA

For ube lovers, it's ube heaven. This dessert does not disappoint. It's heaping with everything ube with the rich taste of coconut cream. . Imagine 2 big scoops of ube coconut ice cream, drizzled with salted coconut cream, topped with a generous amount of ube pudding, sprinkled with cornflakes and palitaw balls on the side. It's a meal in itself.

My tip: The portion size is big so make sure to share it with another person.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT COCO MAMA

The coconut ice cream is so rich and creamy, it brings back memories of the coconut ice cream I tasted in Nataporn ice cream shop in Thailand. Nataporn serves homemade ice cream in a little alley near the Grand Palace. Their bestseller is the coconut ice cream.

My tip: If you're tasting Coco Mama for the first time, first try the coconut ice cream without mixing it with pandan ice cream or with mango. So you can taste the pure flavor and richness of the coconut ice cream, without other flavors interfering with it. Afterwards, try it with pandan ice cream and mango.

WHAT TO ORDER AT THE ROYAL INDIAN CURRY HOUSE: Highly recommended Authentic Indian Restaurant in Boracay

WHAT TO ORDER
AT THE ROYAL INDIAN CURRY HOUSE:
Highly recommended Authentic Indian Restaurant in Boracay

Everytime we go to Boracay, we usually visit Truefood, our favorite Indian restaurant. Sadly, it closed in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. We're back in Boracay this year. And while walking along Station 1, we stumbled upon Royal Indian Curry House. We couldn't resist trying it. We saw a lot of Indian customers eating in the restaurant. So we figured it must be good.

We ordered the Murg Tikka Butter Masala (describe as a succulent chicken tikka cooked in tomato and onion and onion gravy), the Hyderabad biryani (the incomparable hyderabadi rice Delicacy of cubes and rib chops of lamb cooked with basmati on dum) and palak paneer (cottage cheese cubes cooked with spinach). For drinks, we had mango lassi and classic sweet lassi.

We love the food! The flavors were subtle and complex. Simply put, if we had more time in Boracay, we'll go back to this restaurant to try the other dishes. There were plenty dishes in the menu. But we wanted to satisfy our cravings for the usual food we order at Truefood like their chicken tikka masala, biryani and palak paneer so we ordered almost the same the same thing at R.I.C.H. Their acronym is apt. Rich in taste and flavor.

Hope you get to try it too!

The food we ordered were actually good for 3 people.

BORACAY: List of Restaurants with Delivery

BORACAY: List of Restaurants with Delivery

Station 1 is the nicest part of Boracay White Beach. However, the advantage of Station 1 being away from the crowds is also its disadvantage. By being away from the crowds of Station 2 and D'mall, it's also a long walk to great dining areas. Dining options on our first night was initially a problem. No one wants to leave the resort anymore and the comfort of an airconditioned room  and walk almost 2 km or ride the tricycle to dine at D'mall. Then we discovered there are several restaurants offering delivery service to resorts.

Since Boracay Island is small, delivery time ranged from 25-45 min. So if you find yourself feeling lazy enough to go out of your resort and want to try food other than the resort food, you can call the following restaurants with food delivery service
