ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PAYING PHILIPPINE TRAVEL TAX ONLINE

June 16, 2023

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PAYING PHILIPPINE TRAVEL TAX ONLINE

I paid thru www.tieza.gov.ph. You can also go direct to www.myeg.ph.

1. You need to supply the following:

a. An email address and mobile number

b. Your passport number

c. Your plane ticket or booking refence number

d. Your destination and date of departure.

2. At present, there are only 2 payment methods, over-the-counter or via credit card/debit card.

3. I recommend you to pay via credit card or debit card to get an acknowledgement receipt immediately sent to the email address you supplied, within 5 minutes of paying online.

4. You need a printer to print 2 copies of the acknowledgement receipt from Tieza. The airline counter keeps a copy of the acknowledgement receipt.

Note: The acknowledgement receipt with the Tieza logo is the one you need to print not the payment confirmation sent to you by email by myeg.

5. There are additional charges by paying online. 50 php is charged by the portal. 1.4% is charged by the credit card company.

Why pay travel tax online? If you don't have enough time at the airport or you're travelling during high season, paying travel tax online may save you time lining up at the airport.

If you're a Cebu Pacific passenger, you can pay travel tax at their portal. They charge 100 php fee. It's cheaper at myeg coz total additional charge is only 73.38 php.

SM NORTH EDSA TRAVEL TAX PAYMENT COUNTER: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

July 20, 2018

SM NORTH EDSA TRAVEL TAX PAYMENT COUNTER:
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Filipinos traveling abroad are required to pay travel tax. To avoid long lines at the travel tax counter inside the airport, you can choose to do the ff:

1. Pay online and incur an additional 78.35 pesos fee per person as web admin fee and credit card surcharge

Check out my post:

OR

2. Pay at one of the government's travel tax counters.

I chose to visit the SM North EDSA travel tax counter because they don't charge a processing fee in addition to the tax, unlike when you pay online.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

1. The original passport of the traveler

I didn't ask if a photocopy is accepted. I just brought the original passport just to be safe. In case you can't bring the original passport of the traveler for various reasons, you can ask them at this phone number: (632)533-5026 whether they will accept a photocopy.

2. A printout of your ticket.

They need the printout because the receipt must indicate the flight number and ticket number/booking reference number.

3. Cash

They say they accept credit cards. But when I paid at the counter, the credit card machine is offline. So I think it's better to bring cash.

How to Pay Philippine Travel Tax Online

Updated November 21, 2019!!: Check out my updated post in this link: http://www.pinoyroadtrip.com/2019/11/pay-philippine-travel-tax-online.html

Why Pay Philippine Travel Tax Online

To avoid having to line up at the travel tax counter at the airport.  I have traveled internationally on different days of the week and at different times. My experience at lining up at the travel tax counter is different each time. Sometimes the line is short. Sometimes, the line is very long. In airports in Manila, you line up several times, at security, at check-in, at immigration. By paying online, you avoid having to line up another time.

What You Need to Prepare:

1. An email address
2. Your passport information
3. Digital copy of your passport data page.
4. Airfare ticket  number or booking reference number
5. Visa or Mastercard credit card

As you can see, there is an additional cost of 78.35 pesos compared to paying the amount in person at the airport or at other travel tax counters.

My tip: If you're booked at Cebu Pacific and are willing to pay additional 80 pesos for the convenience of paying travel tax online, pay through the “Manage booking" link of Cebu Pacific instead.

3. Once payment is confirmed, you can print the official receipt and present it to the airline at check-in.
