D'HOTEL SINGAPORE: MY REVIEW

Planning the perfect weekend getaway for 2 in SINGAPORE? The D'Hotel Singapore managed by Ascott is a great hideaway. It's value for money and I highly recommend it.

Here is our experience staying in this hotel:

ROOMS
✅The standard room is very spacious, around 27 sq m.
✅The room has all the basic amenities for a comfortable stay. They provide complete toiletries like shampoo, conditioner,  soap, shaver and shaving cream. They have coffee making facilities, a ref, an in-room safe and iron.
✅ Their bed and pillows are very comfortable. Four pillows are provided in each room.
✅Water pressure is strong, although they do not have a bidet.
✅They have a pantry at the lobby where you can heat food in the microwave or oven toaster.
✅They also have a small gym.

LOCATION
✅The location is a short 30 min ride from the airport via taxi or grab. You can also opt to use the mrt from the airport.
✅The location is near very good restaurants like the House of Peranakan Petit and Por Kee Eating House, Tiong Bahru bakery and near the hawker center, Tiong Bahru market.
✅The bus stop is a few steps away and the mrt station is just a short walk from the hotel

Overall, this hotel is value for money and very highly recommended. We will stay again at this hotel when we return to Singapore.

SINGAPORE: RECOMMENDED CHANGI AIRPORT TRANSFERS FOR BIG GROUPS

November 3, 2024

RECOMMENDED CHANGI AIRPORT TRANSFERS FOR BIG GROUPS

Airport transfers for big groups is always a challenge. We decided to forego taking public transportation at Changi Airport Singapore because of our arrival time and location of our hotel, which included several transfers. Booking one grab car is not an option for our family of 6 because of luggage limits per car, even if all people will fit in it. We'll end up booking 2 grab cars which will amount to the same cost of pre-booking one vehicle for all 6 of us. So we decided to pre-book airport transfers for our family of 6.

For hassle free airport transfers at Changi Airport for big groups, we booked our airport transfers here: https://bit.ly/3NTvohW

In my experience, if you're arriving with a big group, it's best to book in advance for faster service. We booked this particular Vimo service through klook for 8 passengers with 8 pcs 24 inch luggage. We were picked up immediately at the arrival pickup area at Terminal 4. Service was seamless.

The great thing about booking at Klook is you actually know how many passengers and luggage will fit in the vehicle you booked. It avoids misunderstanding with the driver regarding how many people and luggage will be accommodated.

Cheapest Singapore SIM Review

Going to Singapore for the weekend? I found the CHEAPEST SIM CARD you can buy

Cheapest Singapore SIM: https://bit.ly/3C9KbTn

I found this to be the cheapest way to get data compared to activating Globe roaming or buying sim at lazada or shopee.

My review: It is easy to pick up at the 24 hour stall at Changi airport, Terminals 1-4. You just present your passport and qr code for claiming. This sim is fast and very easy to install. Connection is seamless.

Do you have any other sim card options that's cheaper than this one? Please let me know in the comments section.

SINGAPORE: CHEAPEST AIRPORT TRANSPORT OPTION if you're landing at CHANGI AIRPORT at MIDNIGHT

SINGAPORE: CHEAPEST AIRPORT TRANSPORT OPTION if you're landing at CHANGI AIRPORT at MIDNIGHT

There are many reasons why Filipino passengers take late night flights to Singapore:

1. To avoid taking leaves from work just to take the flight.
- They can go to work during the day on a Friday, then take a late night flight to Singapore after work to spend the weekend there, then return early Monday morning to go to work. A lot of budget airlines allow you to do that.

2. Red eye flights and late night flights are usually the cheapest flight.

3. The earlier flight you booked was delayed.

If you arrive at midnight, you have only 3 options because the MRT is closed by then and the last airport bus leaves the airport at 11pm. Operating hours of the MRT is from 530am to 12 midnight.

These 3 options are:

1.Grab car

2. Klook pre-booked private airport transfers

3. Transport service at the ground transport concierge of the airport.

As you have seen in the above examples, the cheapest option is to  book Grab.

Cebu Pacific Airline Meals: Same meal, different destinations, different price

October 25, 2024

Cebu Pacific Airline Meals: Same meal, different destinations, different price. Why do you think there's a price difference?

The price of the char siu chicken is 320 pesos for the Manila-Singapore flight. While the char siu chicken is 520 pesos for the Manila-Melbourne flight.

Things you should know about booking Forbidden City tickets

October 9, 2024

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BOOKING FORBIDDEN CITY TICKETS:

You can get 25% OFF FORBIDDEN CITY TICKETS here: 25% OFF Forbidden City Tickets

1. NEVER BOOK FORBIDDEN CITY (a.k.a Beijing Palace Museum) TICKETS LAST MINUTE! As soon as you know the date of your visit, book it. You cannot walk in and you cannot get tickets last minute.

2. When you book the ticket, you don't immediately get the ticket. Sale of Forbidden City tickets open only a week before your intended date. You're merely asking the travel agent to buy the tickets for you the moment ticket sale opens for your date of visit. If and when they are able to buy it, that's the time you get the booking confirmation.

3. Forbidden City tickets are very high in demand. Tickets are usually gone the moment ticket sale opens. There are only a certain number of tickets released each day and you can only buy it online.

4. Make sure to write the name reflected in your passport. Your ticket is actually your passport. When you arrive at the entrance of the Forbidden City, you present your passport and they input your name as reflected in your passport in the computer terminal to check if you have entrance tickets.

My tip on how to get an authentic massage at Wat Pho

September 16, 2024

My tip on
How to get an authentic Thai massage at Wat Pho

Wat Pho is an ancient temple in Bangkok and the home of the famous Reclining Buddha. It is also where the first Thai massage school was opened. Knowing this, people who want to experience authentic Thai massage tend to go to Wat Pho. So it's not surprising that the line will be long and waiting time would be an hour. My tip would be to reserve a slot at the massage place when you arrive at Wat Pho, then tour the place and see the Reclining Buddha. By the time you finish touring the place, it will be your turn for the massage

Another alternative is to go to the Wat pho massage school outside the temple area, about 260 meters from the Chetuphon gate of Wat Pho. Its the same service you'll get but waiting time is shorter because the massage school has more therapists and space is bigger. Waiting time is 40 min.

If you've seen the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and would just like to have the massage, head straight to the wat pho massage school near the river instead of going to the temple. You'll save 300 baht entrance fee that you'll have to pay if you have the massage within Wat Pho temple grounds.

Checkout the photos below for the rates and location. It's interesting to note that they're offering something new: Thai massage with cannabis oil.

My experience checking in at Suvarnabhumi Airport

MY EXPERIENCE CHECKING IN AT SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT, BANGKOK

If you're flying from Suvarnabhumi Airport to an international destination, make sure to arrive at the airport 3 HOURS BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT. Lines are usually long at the check in counter and at immigration.

Our family used both Cebu Pacific going to Manila and Scoot Airlines going to Singapore. Both Cebu Pacific and Scoot check in counters at Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok) open only 3 hours before the flight. The check-in counters were closed when we arrived there early and opened exactly 3 hours before the flight.

We tried using the self check-in kiosk of Cebu Pacific and we were able to print the boarding pass but not the bag tags. So we still needed to line up at the check-in counters for bag drop to get the bag tags. They also reviewed our passports once again and reissued our boarding pass. The line at the check-in counter in took 15 min, whether or not you checked in online.

Scoot check-in counters had no line at all. I guess 3 hours before the flight is too early to check-in for passengers travelling to Singapore. At Changi Airport, you only need to arrive and check-in 2 hours before the flight, and sometimes

But in our experience at Suvarnabhumi Airport, checking in 3 hours before the flight is just right because the line at immigration and security is long, and the walk to the gate is very long. We just had 30 minutes to take a quick bite of food at the lounge near our gate. Then we had to leave because they were already boarding.

So my advice is to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight, to avoid having to run to the gate,

My tip on where to change baht at Suvarnabhumi Airport

MY TIP ON WHERE TO CHANGE BAHT
AT SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT

It seems that the more remote the location of the money changer, the better the rates. This means that the ones that you won't get good rates at are at the more convenient area at the arrival hall compared to the more remote money changers at the basement level near the airport link that goes to the city.

We changed peso at the orange kiosk of Superrich Thailand at the basement level. You go down 2 floors from the arrival hall, which is at the 2nd floor. Although we chose Superrich, you can also get good rates at the money changers beside it like Happy Rich and Kasikornthai.

The exchange rate I got is 1 peso =0.61 baht. For 10,000 pesos, I got 6100 baht. No hidden fees or other charges. You can see today's rate in the photos below.

Food you can buy in 711 Singapore

FOOD YOU CAN BUY IN
711 SINGAPORE

When you're in Singapore, checkout out the 711 stores. They have very interesting foodstuff in small and individual packs that's great for tasting. If you simply want to taste them, it's better to go to the 711 store rather than the bigger stores because food can be bought in individual packs. For example, the Magnum osmanthus oolong is sold at CS fresh in packs of 4, while it's sold individually at 711.

The photo below was taken at 711 UE Square.
