D'Hotel Singapore: My Review

November 14, 2024

D'HOTEL SINGAPORE: MY REVIEW

Planning the perfect weekend getaway for 2 in SINGAPORE? The D'Hotel Singapore managed by Ascott is a great hideaway. It's value for money and I highly recommend it.

Here is our experience staying in this hotel:

ROOMS
✅The standard room is very spacious, around 27 sq m.
✅The room has all the basic amenities for a comfortable stay. They provide complete toiletries like shampoo, conditioner,  soap, shaver and shaving cream. They have coffee making facilities, a ref, an in-room safe and iron.
✅ Their bed and pillows are very comfortable. Four pillows are provided in each room.
✅Water pressure is strong, although they do not have a bidet.
✅They have a pantry at the lobby where you can heat food in the microwave or oven toaster.
✅They also have a small gym.

LOCATION
✅The location is a short 30 min ride from the airport via taxi or grab. You can also opt to use the mrt from the airport.
✅The location is near very good restaurants like the House of Peranakan Petit and Por Kee Eating House, Tiong Bahru bakery and near the hawker center, Tiong Bahru market.
✅The bus stop is a few steps away and the mrt station is just a short walk from the hotel

Overall, this hotel is value for money and very highly recommended. We will stay again at this hotel when we return to Singapore.

SINGAPORE: RECOMMENDED CHANGI AIRPORT TRANSFERS FOR BIG GROUPS

November 3, 2024

RECOMMENDED CHANGI AIRPORT TRANSFERS FOR BIG GROUPS

Airport transfers for big groups is always a challenge. We decided to forego taking public transportation at Changi Airport Singapore because of our arrival time and location of our hotel, which included several transfers. Booking one grab car is not an option for our family of 6 because of luggage limits per car, even if all people will fit in it. We'll end up booking 2 grab cars which will amount to the same cost of pre-booking one vehicle for all 6 of us. So we decided to pre-book airport transfers for our family of 6.

For hassle free airport transfers at Changi Airport for big groups, we booked our airport transfers here: https://bit.ly/3NTvohW

In my experience, if you're arriving with a big group, it's best to book in advance for faster service. We booked this particular Vimo service through klook for 8 passengers with 8 pcs 24 inch luggage. We were picked up immediately at the arrival pickup area at Terminal 4. Service was seamless.

The great thing about booking at Klook is you actually know how many passengers and luggage will fit in the vehicle you booked. It avoids misunderstanding with the driver regarding how many people and luggage will be accommodated.

Cheapest Singapore SIM Review

Going to Singapore for the weekend? I found the CHEAPEST SIM CARD you can buy

Cheapest Singapore SIM: https://bit.ly/3C9KbTn

I found this to be the cheapest way to get data compared to activating Globe roaming or buying sim at lazada or shopee.

My review: It is easy to pick up at the 24 hour stall at Changi airport, Terminals 1-4. You just present your passport and qr code for claiming. This sim is fast and very easy to install. Connection is seamless.

Do you have any other sim card options that's cheaper than this one? Please let me know in the comments section.

SINGAPORE: CHEAPEST AIRPORT TRANSPORT OPTION if you're landing at CHANGI AIRPORT at MIDNIGHT

November 1, 2024

SINGAPORE: CHEAPEST AIRPORT TRANSPORT OPTION if you're landing at CHANGI AIRPORT at MIDNIGHT

There are many reasons why Filipino passengers take late night flights to Singapore:

1. To avoid taking leaves from work just to take the flight.
- They can go to work during the day on a Friday, then take a late night flight to Singapore after work to spend the weekend there, then return early Monday morning to go to work. A lot of budget airlines allow you to do that.

2. Red eye flights and late night flights are usually the cheapest flight.

3. The earlier flight you booked was delayed.

If you arrive at midnight, you have only 3 options because the MRT is closed by then and the last airport bus leaves the airport at 11pm. Operating hours of the MRT is from 530am to 12 midnight.

These 3 options are:

1.Grab car

2. Klook pre-booked private airport transfers

3. Transport service at the ground transport concierge of the airport.

As you have seen in the above examples, the cheapest option is to  book Grab.

Food you can buy in 711 Singapore

FOOD YOU CAN BUY IN
711 SINGAPORE

When you're in Singapore, checkout out the 711 stores. They have very interesting foodstuff in small and individual packs that's great for tasting. If you simply want to taste them, it's better to go to the 711 store rather than the bigger stores because food can be bought in individual packs. For example, the Magnum osmanthus oolong is sold at CS fresh in packs of 4, while it's sold individually at 711.

The photo below was taken at 711 UE Square.

SINGAPORE: What to Order at Matchaya

July 18, 2023

SINGAPORE: WHAT TO ORDER AT MATCHAYA

Glad to be back at Matchaya! I first tasted this in March 2020 before the pandemic lockdown. For matcha lovers, this is the best place to go for your matcha fix. But for my daughter who's not a fan of matcha, she says that she would go back for the Signature Koicha Milk she ordered because IT'S THAT GOOD! It seems that for both matcha lovers and non-matcha lovers, this is a place you can both hang out together.

WHAT TO ORDER

Uji Matcha soft-serve ice cream cone
(6 sgd)

Uji Matcha soft-serve ice cream cup
(6.70 sgd for regular, 8.50 sgd for upsize)

 Signature Koicha Milk
(9 sgd if cold, 8.50 sgd if hot)

SINGAPORE HOTEL REVIEW: Why I Love Fraser Place Robertson Walk

July 15, 2023

SINGAPORE HOTEL REVIEW:
WHY I LOVE FRASER PLACE ROBERTSON WALK

LOCATION: Location is superb. It's very near the MRT (450m walk), and several bus stops (250m walk). It has a grocery nearby. There's a wine store beside it (Wine Connection) that sells good and budget friendly wines. It's also very near several restaurants serving various cuisines.

SERVICE: Housekeeping is exemplary. They are very responsive to the requests of guests. Rooms are kept very clean.

ROOMS: The rooms are very spacious and have a very good layout. It is as beautiful as shown in the photos in their site. We got the 3 bedroom premier for 6 adults. But drainage in the shower must be addressed. It drains slowly when we were there February 2023. That's why I only gave 4 stars rating for the room. I didn't put any photos of the room anymore coz it looks the same as the one in the website. Check out their website at https://www.frasershospitality.com/en/singapore/fraser-place-robertson-walk-singapore/accommodation/ for more photos and details

TOILETS AND BATH: It's very hard to find accommodations in Singapore that will provide 2 toilets and bath for 6 people in one property or room, unless you book 2 hotel rooms for 6 people or 3 hotel rooms for 6 people. Since we want to be together in one room, this property is a find. When the kids were small, we used to get by with one toilet and bath for the 6 of us. But when the kids became adults, we now need at least 2 toilets and bath for the 6 of us. Otherwise, it would be ages before we can go out of the hotel.

BREAKFAST: I love their buffet breakfast. It is not as wide in variety as a hotel breakfast but they are sufficient to cover the preferences of a family of different age groups. They are delicious and cooked very well. They have American, Continental and Asian breakfast. I especially love their croissant and cappuccino. They are also very generous with their breakfast. They provide lunch boxes in their room so you can bring back breakfast to your room if you wish. They also provide disposable cups so you can also bring back coffee to your room if you wish.

For cheapest rates, check out Fraser Place Robertson Walk  HERE

FREE SHUTTLE: They have free shuttle buses to Orchard and Suntec.

OTHER AMENITIES: The gym is sufficient in size and equipment. The pool is great even for small kids.

The only con is that you need to book this property for at least 6 nights.

We love the place so much so we booked it again for our Singapore trip next year.

SINGAPORE: Fraser Place Robertson Walk Breakfast Buffet Review

SINGAPORE: Fraser Place Robertson Walk

Breakfast Buffet Review

I love the accommodations at Fraser Place Robertson Walk!!! Among the things I love is their breakfast buffet. It's not overwhelmingly plenty but each item was of very good quality and well prepared. You can choose an American or Asian breakfast, have eggs cooked at the egg station in the way you prefer, either scrambled, boiled or sunny side up, and have limitless croissant, bread, cereal, pastry, salad, fruits, tea, juice, yogurt and of course, coffee. I love their cappuccino! Plus you can bring back to your room more food because they provide shiok shiok lunchbox in your room for that purpose. You can bring back more coffee to your room coz they provide disposable.

WHERE TO FIND THE BEST HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE IN SINGAPORE

May 27, 2023

WHERE TO FIND THE BEST HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE IN SINGAPORE

We tried out Hainanese Delicacy as seen from Food Affair by Mark Wiens (Migrationology). Superb Hainanese chicken rice! The taste of chicken is very clean and refreshing, tender and moist. Even the cucumbers that go with it are delicately flavored. One whole chicken is good for 8 servings but our group of 5 was able to finish it quickly. Our standards for Hainanese chicken rice just went up. It's the best Hainanese chicken rice we've eaten in Singapore, much better than the Tian Tian Hainanese chicken rice popular among the tourists. Worth the long walk from our place to Far East Plaza!

MY TIP: Best time to arrive is after lunch. We are a group of 5. We arrived 130pm  and was seated in 10 minutes. Groups of 2 are seated immediately. There are only 2 big tables that can accommodate a group of 5.
